Question: What made you want to enter this competition?

  1. The simple answer is I thought it would be fun. That’s the main reason I entered!
…but I suppose I also think its important to get the next generation thinking about science. Science is so important to us but most people don’t realise just how important! It is responsible for almost everything we have and take for granted!
Just think about your average day. You wake up maybe in a wooden house (treated for termites – thanks to science) or maybe in a brick house (bricks made by science), you turn on your light (thanks to science discovering electricity), you might check your mobile phone for messages (thanks to science inventing and designing phones and internet), you get a hot shower (maybe a gas or electricity powered shower – thanks to science) in CLEAN water (thanks to science), with shower gel (designed by science), you go to school (maybe on a bus or in a car (you guessed it- thanks to science!)…. if you get sick you’ll go to the hospital for medicine that has been designed by scientists. and if it weren’t for scientists studying the environment and making sure that we don’t destroy it completely we would probably living in awful polluted conditions right now. So everyone has a lot to thank science for!

  2. I’m the same as Jennifer, I though it would be fun and it is!!! I also think it is important to inspire kids about nature and science. Because even if you don’t become a scientist, there will still be science in your life and some important decisions will be science based. such as climate change, we all need to understand what is happening.

  3. I also thought it would be great fun (and it has been so far)! I live to communicate science, so this was the perfect competition for me. I am a science communicator, so I am always looking at ways to better my skills in this area. Is there a better place to do it than here?

Like Jennifer said, science is also really important. There are heaps of reasons why we should all understand a little more science, so I want to help inform people about it so that they can make informed decisions!
