Well because we are all Scientists so we, unlike non-scientists, understand how delicate the environment is and how easy it is to destroy it. Once its destroyed its difficult (maybe even impossible) to get it back to what it should be.
People forget that we are all animals living on this planet and we depend on this planet for food and water. We will die if the planet isn’t healthy and stops providing us with enough food and water.
Also people forget that this is our ONLY planet. We don’t have a back-up planet hidden somewhere in case we ruin this one beyond repair. So we need to look after it or we are in for some very troubled times ahead. We don’t want to end up like the dinosaurs!
Jennifer and Simon are right. It is fairly simple – the planet is our home and if we destroy it we’ll have nowhere to live and it isn’t fair on all the other creatures that have evolved to be here too. Earth is also such a beautiful place and one of my favourite things to do is enjoy nature. I want to be able to continue to enjoy it’s beauty.
Because we live in it and we can break it.
