The top reasons for animals becoming endangered or extinct is because of loss of habitat and hunting by humans. Many rainforests are being destroyed, along with the hundreds of animals which live in it, for space to build homes for the increasing size of the human population.
In answer to your question according to the World Wildlife Federation (WWF) the top 10 most endangered species are:
Black Rhinoceros have been driven to extinction because of man hunting them for their horns because some cultures believe that it is medicinal. It has been proven by medical science that is not medicinal and does not cure any ailments yet people continue to hunt them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Rhinoceros
2. Giant Panda
6.Alligator Snapping Turtle
8.Big Leaf Mahogany
There are many more endangered species (too many to list) but this is the top ten.
However, there may be species we havent even discovered yet that are going extinct. There was a species of frog recently discovered just shortly before it went extinct.
Some of those on the possibly extinct list may be hiding out. It takes fifty years from the last sighting to be confirmed extinct as it is easier to prove that something exists than to prove it does not.
