cool! I wish I could surf. I’ve never tried it. One day I will have a lesson or something to see if I’m any good at it! Cant do it here in Adelaide though because there’s no waves!

My brother and I went snorkelling at Daydream Island which is located quite close to the barrier reef. I am going Bali soon and we are going snorkelling! I’m pretty sure that there isn’t anything dangerous that I have to look out for. Well I hope not. When I was at Daydream Island there was heaps of coral which was out a bit further. There was one that looked like a brain! Do you know what that’s called? I really like wearing flippers but when I wear them it blows up the sand. My brother and I fed them little fish food pebbly thingies. Once we put it right in front of the googles and a really pretty Parrot fish flew past and ate it. Are Parrot fish dangerous? My brother tried to feed by hand until we saw the size of its teeth! They are so pretty though! They always dart under the little bulks of coral. I was scared to stand on any coral! We had to get out soon because the current picked up and we couldn’t really fight it and something was making my legs sting! Maybe floating sand which was in the current! Well that’s what it felt like! Bye! 😀 @Jenny @Jenny @Jenny

I haven’t heard of daydream island before. I will have to go there. It sounds lovely! Everyone calls coral that looks like a brain “brain coral”! Brain coral is the common name given to corals in the family Faviidae. In shallow waters sometimes its best not to wear flippers because of that problem, but if the currents are strong like you said then flippers help you swim further with less effort. I love parrot fish. They’re very pretty. They aren’t dangerous. You should try not to touch coral and definitely don’t stand on it because coral is made up of millions of tiny little animals all living together and if you touch them or stand on them you will kill them and they take a very very long time to grow back. There might be a few dangerous creatures in Bali which is why its best to not touch anything when you go diving or snorkeling. You will be fine though as long as you don’t go around prodding and poking all the animals making them grumpy. haha. Nothing will hurt you 🙂
Have fun in Bali! 🙂-

Thanks! Also, In Daydream Island instead of sand they have coral! and it REALLY hurts your feet! There was a wallaby which I named Roger and he was there every time! I could tell him apart because he had a grey blob of fur on his ear. @Jenny

I’m very jealous that you have been to Fiji! I’ve always wanted to go! I will probably go there for a holiday in the next year or so. I bet you seen loads of coral! 🙂

Coral is so pretty but sadly there is bleaching, pollution and storms which damage them 🙁 I wish people just stopped!

I LOVE snorkeling! I do it nearly every weekend during summer time. I spend a lot of time in the sea during summer because I go for a swim most evenings to cool off as I only live 5 mins from the beach. I went snorkeling just last week and seen some really big fish and some crabs too.
Do you go snorkeling?
