I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Wet & Wild Zone. It has a range of scientists studying all different topics. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
So, what’s the Wet & Wild Zone all about?
This zone covers areas of science that reach into the dense leafy forests, all the way into the deep depths of lakes, rivers and seas. With scientists in this zone coming from a background of marine biology, aquatics, ecology and the environment, we thought what better name for this zone than Wet & Wild!
The scientists in this zone are almost as diverse as the species and conditions that they study. They range from looking at developing technologies such as GM (genetically modified) foods, to collecting and identifying invertebrates (animals without a back-bone) from aquatic habitats to see how healthy or polluted their ecosystem is. One of the key things to remember is that the findings from these scientists link up to build a picture of how all of the different ecosystems, on land and in water, work and survive together.
