I think it depends on how you feel you learn things best. I have a bad memory, but I can visualise pictures to help me remember things so I used to draw pictures that would help me remember scientific concepts. I would then put them up on the walls around the house so that I was always looking at them.
I think it is also helpful to try and explain a concept to someone else. If you can’t explain it to someone else, you probably don’t understand it yourself and you won’t be able to answer the question in a test.
