Question: what does a photosynthesis?

Keywords:

  1. Photosynthesis is the way that plants use light from the sun and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) to make sugar and Oxygen. Only plants, algae, phytoplankton, Zooxanthellae and I think some bacteria (not sure) have the ability to do photosynthesis.

The plants release the oxygen into the air (for us to breath) and they use the sugar to grow and produce yummy fruit and vegies for us to eat.

  2. @Shona – Cyanobacteria (known as blue-green algae) are the type of bacteria that photosynthesise.

It is amazing that these organisms have the ability to make their own food (sugar), but as Shona mentioned, we can come along and steal it by eating them! Such is the circle of life 🙂
