A diesel Pajero, Tasmania has loads of roads which are unpaved, they go to all the nice and remote places. The places myself and my family like to visit, so we drive a 4×4. Not very eco friendly, but to mitigate that I do cycle or kayak to work.
I technically don’t own a car anymore, but I drive my partner’s car which is a 1991 Nissan Pulsar! It’s over 20 years old which makes it a ‘classic’ car apparently! I find with cars it’s all about getting from A to B and not about looking cool (well, not in our car).
I just have a Mazda 323 at the moment but I think I need to sell it and buy a 4 x 4 because when I go camping its a nightmare driving on unpaved roads!
I drive a Nissian x-trail… so I can take all my field gear with me on surveys.
