Of course you can!! What type of science do you like? Fossil, animals, DNA, Disease, health, physics there are so many!

There are heaps of things you could do when you go to University, you could do a Bachelor of Zoology or Bachelor of Botany. You could even do a Bachelor of Science (major in Zoology and co-major in Botany), if you like extinct animals you could do a Bachelor of Zoology and specialise in Palaeontology.
If you do the subject you like when you graduate you could work in consultancy (companies like GHD or SKM) or you could work for CSIRO, Museums, zoo’s, the list is endless…

You could definitely become as scientist!! As long as your passionate about science and get good grades in high school. 🙂
I was never the cleverest person in the class in school. In fact I was quite average, but I had determination and passion about science and that got me to where I am today. With the right attitude you can achieve anything in life!

It just happened. I asked too many questions and tried to answer them. Somewhere along the line I started to get paid to answer questions. They started off in the category of “how can we do this better.”, moved into the category of “I am sure there is a better way to do this?” Passing through “why are we doing this?” on the way.

I decided to be come a scientist when I was in high school. I love watching nature documentaries and find the planet and nature (biology in general) really interesting. I just didn’t know which type of science I wanted to do yet. So I did A level biology and chemistry in college and decided genetics was my favorite subject within science. But then before I started university I ended up changing my mind and doing marine biology instead! But somehow Ive done a full circle and since doing my undergraduate degree I’ve ended up back in the field of genetics! I think that if you just stick with subjects that you like you will end up doing the job your supposed to do eventually.

I think I allways had it in me to be a scientist. I have always loved nature and animals. Throughout school and university I just studied the subjects I loved and now I have a job I love.

I agree with the others that if you follow your heart and do what you love, you end up in a job that naturally suits you. I always loved asking questions and learning about the environment and the universe, so I was bound to study science.
