Nanotechnology can help us in many ways. It is the science and engineering of things that are really, really small (one billionth of a metre to be exact!). This is at the level of atoms.
It is helping us do things like:
1. Build faster and smaller computer chips.
2. Create drugs that can treat certain types of cancer.
3. Make more efficient solar panels that can be sprayed onto surfaces, just like paint.
4. Make structures really really strong, but also very light (using carbon nanotubes).
5. Create safer drinking water through tiny filters.
And much, much more!
