Question: What are things made of? We thought we knew the answer with atoms. Then we found substructure to atoms. Then we found substructure to nucleons. Now we're contemplating superstrings. Where will it end? Or will it?

  1. That is a good question. There is so much that we don’t know about our universe, I think we will be discovering thing like this for a few more years to come. I think the string theory is now proving the existence of multiple dimensions as well…. really cool stuff..

  2. You’re on fire jackylegs! Another great question.

The best thing about science is that it is constantly updating itself. As soon as we think we know the answer to one question, we’ve opened a door to another. I think physicists will long be debating the various theories of the fabric of our universe. I am definitely looking forward to learning more about the multiple dimensions theory. Go Multiverse!

  3. Personally, I think that there will always be new ways of looking at the universe and more to discover but I don’t think that we will keep finding smaller and smaller stuff. I don’t know if strings are exactly the best explanation on the smallest scale but I reckon that there is a “smallest thing”, which will be something like a string.

The reason I think that is because quantum physics says that space and time can only be divided up so far and its proved pretty right so far for other predictions.

  4. Fab question! I’m not sure! I don’t know enough about Physics to give an opinion. Sometimes when I start thinking about stuff like that it blows my mind. I cant make sense of it all in my head because its so…. well…. mind blowing!! lol. Who knows!!!
