Question: Have you found any new species of fish or insects

    Hi grumb1es,

    No I haven’t found a new species of fish or insect. But I have found three new species of marine worms. I named one after my Dad, Hermundura philipi. I named one after the place that I found it (Gladstone QLD) Hermundura glastonensis and the other one I named after my two grandfathers Hermundura fredrayorum. I work at the museum as well, last year they found a new species of fish, I cant remember the name but it was named after its’ yellow lips and the entomologist are always working on new species of insect.

    If you found a new species, what would you call it?

    @ fourleafedclover. Yes they like it to, my Dad has a picture of his worm hanging in his office. It is very common for scientist to name animals after other people or family, but it is considered very un-professional to name a new species after yourself. 🙁 so I have to wait for another scientist to name one after me…

      I don’t know Hermundura grumbli…. sound cool. Some museums you can buy a new species of spider and it is named after you…
