Question: What is the heaviest (in mass) chemical on the periodic table?

Keywords: ,

  1. I must admit that chemisty is not my strong point, but I would imagine it to be the last element on the table (because it has the largest atomic number)?

Just looked it up – it is ununoctium, element number 118 which is man-made and it doesn’t last for very long. BUT, the article I found below also brings up denisty. The two elements with the highest mass per unit of volume are osmium and iridium. I’ve actually felt a cube of iridium before and believe me, it is HEAVY!!!!

  2. I had to look that up too! It was only discovered in 2006.

  3. Wow, this is cool I didn’t realise they were still finding new elements.
